LEARNING TO WORK AS A TEAM. AS EVERY STEP IS ESSENTIAL, COMMUNICATION IS EVERYTHING.
EMPLOYER
INSAS — NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
ROLE
POST-PRODUCTION PROGRAMME MANAGER & COMMUNICATION COORDINATOR
YEARS
2012-2022
Over ten years, I managed the post-production programme for third and final-year film students, overseeing up to 30 films annually across fiction, documentary and animation. Every step in the chain is essential — and communication is everything. My role was to design the systems, tools and documentation that make complex collaborative workflows run smoothly, on time and to professional standards.

Production Manual & Workflow Documentation
I wrote and continuously refined a comprehensive manual covering every stage of the post-production process, from editing and mixing through colour grading, VFX, credits design, subtitling, mastering and archiving. The manual served as both a teaching tool and a production reference, giving students and technical staff a shared language and clear expectations at each handover point. It was updated annually based on feedback and evolving technologies.
Redesigning Production Tools
I redesigned the most commonly used production documents such as editing reports, image reports and delivery checklists, in both carbon paper and digital formats, developed in collaboration with teaching staff. These tools were designed to facilitate precise communication between departments and reduce errors at critical handover points. They remain in use and are available as open resources.

I had a clear follow-up of each step. My role was to facilitate communication throughout the chain.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
Each year I produced a strategic report analysing workflow performance: turnaround times, recurring issues, resource utilisation and student feedback. These reports drove data-informed improvements to processes, tools and infrastructure, creating a culture of continuous refinement. Students and teachers contributed feedback that directly shaped the following year’s framework.
Database & Asset Management
I redesigned a FileMaker Pro database consolidating over 10,000 roles and functions and 1,200 films into a single shared tool. The system combined technical metadata, artistic credits, archiving status and festival tracking, replacing fragmented records with a centralised reference accessible to multiple teams. I wrote a user guide to ensure autonomous adoption across departments.

Digital Transition & Infrastructure
I managed the transition from tape-based to fully digital post-production workflows, making procurement decisions on hardware, software, storage and encoding standards. I oversaw technology upgrades and established file management and archiving procedures that supported both current production needs and long-term preservation.
