Science-for-Policy

From research to communication in support of public decision‑making

Science-for-Policy design supports the interface between research, communication, and public decision-making. My role is to translate complex scientific evidence into clear, accessible, and visually coherent outputs. This work spans large-scale publications, conference communication, and digital content strategies, all developed under tight deadlines and high institutional standards.

Visual clarity for complex evidence

For this Rapid Evidence Review, I designed the complete layout of a 100-page scientific report synthesising the best available evidence on the use of artificial intelligence in emergency and crisis management. The work focused on structuring highly technical content into a clear and readable narrative, while preserving scientific rigour and institutional credibility. I developed and refined graphic elements, diagrams, and illustrative content in close collaboration with experts, ensuring visual consistency and clarity across the publication. The report was prepared for both high-quality print and digital distribution and delivered on an accelerated production timeline for presentation at a major conference.

Beyond Documentation

The Building Bridges conference report was conceived as more than a record of proceedings, aiming instead to convey the atmosphere, relevance, and significance of the event within Europe’s science-for-policy ecosystem. I designed the full layout of the publication with a strong emphasis on photography-led storytelling, using imagery to communicate the mood and importance of the discussions. In parallel, I produced a behind-the-scenes event video aligned with the same visual and narrative identity, ensuring coherence across print, digital, and audiovisual formats. The result supports both institutional reporting and broader communication objectives.

Structuring Content Workflows

In response to a rapidly changing digital landscape for science-for-policy communication, I developed a content and workflow strategy focused on efficiency, openness, and accessibility. This included designing a cross-referenced content database to streamline collaboration between reports, newsletters, and social media outputs, as well as automating repetitive processes to allow teams to focus on editorial and strategic work. I also developed a multi-platform social media strategy to distribute content across different channels, meeting audiences where they are and supporting more democratic access to scientific knowledge. The approach resulted in a more resilient and future-proof communication ecosystem for SAPEA and SAM.
